RANGERS will not hold crisis talks with manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the immediate future.

The Dutchman is under serious pressure after his side have suffered a stuttering start to their league campaign as well as a depressing Champions League group stage.

Heavy defeats in Europe coupled with poor league performances have resulted in frustration from the stands.

The latest result was a defeat against St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday and van Bronckhorst's future at Ibrox is now in serious danger.

The club told talkSPORT host Jim White that they would not be holding any crisis talks with their manager.

He said: "We understand that there are no crisis talks planned between the Rangers board and Gio van Bronckhorst.

"A Rangers source has told us that they speak every day and nothing will change in that regard."

Just over a week short of a year in the job, Van Bronckhorst was asked if there was more focus and pressure on him.

He told Sky Sports: “It is already, the last couple of weeks.

“Of course, a defeat doesn’t help. But we have to continue. It is a tough one to take, the loss we had today.

“I have said it many times. If you lose 2-1 against St Johnstone away, for me there is no excuse.

“We are very disappointed with the result and we need to look forward.

“It is always difficult to take losses, especially when you are the manager and player of a big club.

“You are expected to win, that is obvious, and if you don’t win you are very disappointed.”
