MICHAEL BEALE is considered the bookies favourite to become the next Rangers manager.

The former Ibrox coach was made the odds-on favourite for the role after Giovanni van Bronckhorst was sacked.

But, according to reports, it'd cost Rangers around £1.5million to land Beale.

The Daily Record claim Rangers will pay off Van Bronckhorst and his staff to the tune of around £3.5m after parting ways with the management team.

And the report goes on to suggest Beale would cost another £1.5m in compensation if Rangers managed to lure him to Ibrox.

But, it's suggested a number of candidates will be considered for the role - with Beale an obvious option given his huge support within the Ibrox fan base.

Beale has impressed since going solo in management with QPR and was wanted by Premier League club Wolves.

However, Beale remained loyal to QPR as he turned down an approach from Wolves to continue with the London club.

Discussing speculation linking him with the Rangers job back in October, Beale said: “With the stuff about Rangers you have to be very careful about that.

"Giovanni van Bronckhorst has done a fantastic job in the time he has been there.

“He has won a cup and got to a Europa League final, so I am not talking about that.

"And I have no right to talk about the Wolves job because there has been no contact."

Beale was recently in Glasgow to take in a Rangers match as he made the journey after a Friday night fixture for his QPR side.

Before kick-off in the match against Aberdeen, the popular coach stopped in at the Louden Tavern near Ibrox.

The Rangers pub shared a snap of Beale in the venue before he headed into Ibrox for the match.

Posting the image on social media, the attached comment read: "Cheers to Michael Beale for popping by earlier. Was a pleasure having you."

After his visit to the Louden Tavern, Beale then took his place in the director's box at Ibrox to watch the Scottish Premiership match.
