MICHAEL BEALE has been installed as the bookies favourite to take over at Rangers.

The former Ibrox coach has had his odds shortened to a huge odds-on favourite at 1/4 to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Beale - currently QPR manager - has been heavily linked with a return to take the top job at Ibrox even before Van Bronckhorst was dismissed.

And since the Dutchman's departure on Monday - speculation has continued to ramp up over a Rangers reunion for Beale.

The highly-rated coach worked under Steven Gerrard at Rangers and Aston Villa before going solo in management at QPR.

Since then his stock has continued to rise with Wolves failing to lure Beale to the Premier League earlier this year.

But it's thought Beale could be tempted by Rangers with Skybet pricing Beale at 1/4 to take over at Ibrox.

QPR director of football Les Ferdinand appeared to clear Beale for a return to Rangers should the coach wish to return to Ibrox.

He insisted he - nor QPR chiefs - would stand in Beale's way, but it's reported a £1.5million fee must be met should Rangers seek to appoint the Englishman.

Sean Dyche is another name in the frame according to oddsmakers with the former Burnley coach priced at 6/1 making him second-favourite - albeit well behind Beale.

Kevin Muscat and Gerardo Seoane also continue to feature in the next Rangers manager market at odds of 12/1 and 14/1 respectively.

Marcelo Gallardo and former Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl are further back at 16/1 to become the next permanent Rangers boss.

And Livingston boss David Martindale is priced at 20/1 for the Ibrox gig alongside former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard who was recently sacked by Villa.
