RANGERS are reportedly set to make a formal approach to QPR over Michael Beale.

It's claimed Ibrox chiefs are ready to ask the London club to hold talks with the manager over a return to Rangers.

Beale has been the huge favourite to return to Ibrox since Van Bronckhorst's dismissal on Monday.

And talkSPORT now claim Rangers power brokers are ready to make a formal approach to QPR before holding discussions with Beale.

A tweet from the outlet claims: "BREAKING: Rangers are ready to make a formal approach to speak to QPR manager Mick Beale."

QPR director of football Les Ferdinand said earlier this week that the London club would not stand in Beale's way should he wish to return to Ibrox.

But it's reported it'd cost around £1.5million for Rangers to pay-off his contract with QPR and complete the deal.

Ferdinand told the Daily Record: “I haven’t spoken to Michael or Rangers about this.

"But I expected Michael’s name would be mentioned for the role at Rangers because he did such a good job while he was up there working with Steven Gerrard.

"I don't want to have to fight to keep anyone at QPR. I want people who want to be here. That’s the only way we can move forward.

“If they want to be somewhere else, that’s what they’re going to do.

"We’d have to have a conversation. It’s not that I’d be happy to have it but I only want people at the football club who want to be here.”

Beale is a popular figure at Ibrox and visited his former club - where he worked under Steven Gerrard - last month to watch the win over Aberdeen.

The highly-rated coach was wanted by Premier League club Wolves but turned down the opportunity to explore a move to Molineux in favour of remaining at QPR.
