Rangers legend Neil McCann has criticised striker Alfredo Morelos for his celebration after his second goal against Hearts at Tynecastle, branding him an "idiot".

And furious Ibrox fans haven't been slow to let the pundit know they disagree on social media with many calling out what they perceive to be overly harsh criticism.

The Light Blues ran out 3-0 winners in the capital but the former Ibrox midfielder was less than impressed with how Colombian chose to conduct himself after scoring late on in the second-half.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, McCann said: "There he [Morelos] is away again. The boy is an idiot."

The former Scotland international was referring to the striker doing his trademark celebration in front of the Hearts supporters.

Asked to further discuss the comments, McCann said: "I don't know why he does it. I know he's a pantomime villain.

"He reacted when he scored his first one. Then he goes to the wee corner. I've said before how close this ground is. He runs to the fans and antagonises them.

"I said at the time I didn't like it. The second one, because we were waiting so long, he had no reason to celebrate other than to antagonise the Hearts fans. He's right into the corner of the section, running away from his own fans. I've seen him do that at Fir Park.

"I just don't like that. I was very strong in my comments... maybe I shouldn't have said that."

Meanwhile, before kick-off, Gers boss Michael Beale shared his frustration at the fixture against the Jambos not being televised.

Beale told BBC Sportsound: “Listen I love coming here to Tynecastle. I think the pitch is always very good when you come here.

“It is a really good club. They are on the up. I think Robbie has done a heck of a job, both times, but certainly in this moment.

“They are in a rich vain of form. There are three teams in Scotland that other teams have found difficult to take anything from them and Hearts are one of them.

“This makes it an intriguing game. I cannot believe it is not live on TV. This is the kind of game that showcases our league very well.

“I think the fans in here will make plenty of noise and make it difficult for us. Nothing but the best of Rangers is what is needed tonight.”
