The Ibrox side welcomes the LaLiga outfit to Glasgow on Thursday and the former Scotland international feels the Spanish club are there for the taking.

Manuel Pellegrini's men were thrashed 5-0 by Barcelona at the weekend and Ferguson thinks Rangers are playing them at the ideal time.

"They got absolutely battered at the weekend.

"I know it's Barcelona who have some top players but I would expect Rangers to come away with at least if not three points, a point.

"They have to take some confidence out the game at the weekend."

Ferguson also expressed his disappointment at Danilo's injury but highlighted how it could open up an opportunity for someone like Kemar Roofe to kick on.

"Danilo is the disappointing thing for me," he continued. "I just thought this would kick him on, good goal and he's had no luck with that type of injury.

"But it happens in football and it's why you have a big squad.

"Somebody else will need to come in and take that place. For me, I would put Kemar Roofe right up top
