Sam Lammers has spoken to the media ahead of the Premiership fixture with Aberdeen on Saturday. Here is everything he had to say.

How is the team feeling after the run of results you have had?

Obviously now it is a more positive feeling we have. A few good wins in a row. Of course the games weren’t always as pretty but the last game we did good and we took some confidence from this.

How have the first couple of months been for you?

Yeah, good. I think I have settled in well. Obviously it is a big, beautiful club so I am happy to be here and want to be important for the team and try and get better every week.

Are you aware of the scrutiny on the new players?

Yeah. I mean, there are a lot of new signings so I think it is normal that the fans expect a lot from every one of us. We try to give everything for the club and do as best as possible and hopefully make the fans happy. I didn’t follow it that much.

Are you now more aware of the expectations?

I knew it already before I came here because Rangers should win every game and if it is not the case then it is normal that you hear rumours from the outside or hear some negativity. Like I said, the only thing we can do as a team is be honest with each other in the time we have here and look at what we can improve. I think we did it really well last week and now there is another big game ahead of us.

Have you been surprised by the pressure?

No. I think there is pressure everywhere. I haven’t been surprised when I came here. I said it already, every game we need to win and this is the pressure I like. I want to play for prizes. With that comes pressure for the whole team. This is normal.

Do you feel extra responsibility because of the injuries up front?

I think it is clear that there are a lot of injuries, especially in the attack. Not extra. But I think the options in attack we have right now are quite thin. In every game I want to do good. I am ready for this challenge and I think even though there are a lot of injuries, last game we showed there is still enough quality if we stick together. This is positive.

What did you think of the game in midweek and the relationship with Tav and Cifuentes?

Especially first half I think it went well. We played a lot of fast, short combinations. This is good for our confidence and to show the fans that we can play at a higher tempo. I think it is good. I am not a real winger so when I play on the sides I will come inside as well and try and play the combinations. It went well, especially first half.

What have you heard about Rangers versus Aberdeen?

I think they are in a good couple of games. They started not so well this season but since the European game I think they didn’t lose. Like I said, it is a big game, an important game for us. The third game this week but for them as well so that can’t be an excuse. We are looking forward to it.

What is your best position?

Like we spoke earlier, I am a player that likes the freedom as well. Last game I played more on the right hand side but with the freedom to come in. I like this. I have always been a striker so I can play as a striker or as a false striker behind it. I can play more positions but the main thing is that I want to be free in spaces to get the ball and facing their goal.

Has the manager spoken to you about that?

Yeah. Of course you speak about this. But it is mainly the fact that he likes his attackers and his attacking line to be free and be creative. I think this is the player I am.

What are the main differences with Scottish football and the continent?

Obviously we are normally in every game the better team. The main thing is playing through defences that are very compact most of the time, finding solutions for this. This has been the main think we have talked about.
