Jack Butland appeared to admit Rangers needed a change of manager from Michael Beale to Philippe Clement.

The Ibrox goalkeeper has been impressed by the new Belgian boss in the early period of his Rangers career and admitted it has brought a fresh start for every player.

Appearing to suggest a managerial switch was required, Butland stated some players required a clean slate and that the club was overdue a change.

Asked his thoughts on new boss Clement, Butland told Rangers TV:  “Really good. I think it’s been a fresh start for everyone. Some boys needed it and I think as a club we needed a change, which is obviously what the club felt as well.

Butland was signed by Beale in the summer and has been one of few Rangers signings who immediately made a positive impact since joining.

He continued his impressive form in the stalemate against Sparta Prague and reckons there is a lot more to come from his side under Clement this season.

He added: “I’ve been impressed by the new manager and the way he carries himself and the points he’s got across so far. I know there’s a lot more he wants to work on but he’s conscious on giving us too much right now.

“I think we're taking on board what he’s trying to get over to us and doing a good job of it. It’s been a good start and it’s up to us to make sure that continues.”
