Rangers are keen to clinch a move for Lens winger Oscar Cortes as Philippe Clement looks to add further firepower to his Ibrox ranks.

Clement has completed moves for Wolves striker Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande, the FC Nordsjælland midfielder, so far during his first window as boss. And Cortes could now put pen-to-paper to become the latest arrival as Clement gears up for a shot at the Premiership title in the coming months.

The Rangers Review understands that reports in South America stating that Cortes - who started his career at Millonarios - is already on his way to Glasgow are wide of the mark. As it stands, no deal has been finalised to bring the 20-year-old to Ibrox ahead of deadline day. But it is understood that Rangers are very much in the running to sign the Colombian internationalist after he was released from their camp to return to France.

A statement from the Colombian FA on Sunday evening read: "The Sports Department of the Colombian Football Federation and the Technical Body of the Colombia Under 23 National Team report that the player Óscar Cortés is being called out of the national team concentration to travel to France and comply with the request of his club, RC Lens. Ligue 1 commitments.

"Coach  Héctor Cárdenas, his coaching staff and the group of players wish Óscar Cortés success in this new season, hoping that in the next opportunity he can be part of the Colombia U23 National Team again."

Clement admitted after the 1-0 win over St Mirren on Saturday that he expected to be 'busy until the last second probably' ahead of the deadline on Thursday night.

Brazilian full-back Jefte is also close to completing a move to Ibrox as Rangers wait on work permit paperwork being signed off to allow Diomande to get down to business with Clement's side.
