Craig Gordon, Zander Clark and Lawrence Shankland have been called up to Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the upcoming friendlies against the Netherlands and Northern Ireland.

The fixtures are the final international break before the squad for this summer’s European Championships is finalised, although there are further friendlies scheduled against Gibraltar and Finland in June as warm-up matches for the tournament in Germany.

Shankland, the Premiership’s top scorer, will be aiming for his eighth and ninth caps in the friendlies. He has scored two goals for the national team, including a 93rd-minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw away to Georgia in November.

Gordon, meanwhile, hasn’t played for Scotland since a 2-1 friendly defeat to Turkiye in November 2022, and the veteran shot-stopper will be hoping to add to his 74 caps for the national team.

Clark has three caps - the most recent of which came in the 3-3 draw with Norway in November.

Clarke’s side will face the Netherlands at the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Friday 22 March before hosting Northern Ireland at Hampden on Tuesday 26 March.

The Scotland squad will meet up on Monday 18 March to begin their preparations for the fixtures.
