The SPFL won't announce the Scottish Premiership post-split fixtures until after the match between Dundee and Rangers.

League chiefs will delay the announcement of the final five matchdays until league standings are cemented following the final match of the regular season on Wednesday.

It means supporters will face a lengthy wait until the end of the week - Thursday at the earliest - for fixtures to be finalised. It's expected fixtures will be confirmed later this week.

The reason for the delay comes down to the fact Dundee could leapfrog St Mirren in the table in their final match before the split.

While both clubs will be in the top half of the table, the timetabling of the fixtures is related to the confirmed placings in the league.

Dundee are currently three points behind St Mirren but could overtake them should they record a surprise five-goal margin victory over Rangers on Wednesday night.

The Daily Record reports an SPFL source said: “The fixture announcement will be after all games have been played.

"The way the timetabling of the fixtures are set is dependant on the confirmed placings on the table.”

The top and bottom six were confirmed on Saturday with Dundee clinching their spot as they played out a goalless draw at Pittodrie and Hibs drew with Motherwell.

That means Celtic, Rangers, Heart of Midlothian, Kilmarnock, St Mirren and Dundee make up the top half of the Scottish Premiership this season.

Hibs, Motherwell, Aberdeen, St Johnstone, Ross County and Livingston will play in the bottom half for the final five matchdays.

While supporters face a wait to discover the fixture list for after the split, the fixture dates have already been confirmed by the SPFL.
