Free agent Liam Kelly is in-line for an unexpected return to Rangers this summer.

Having come through the club's youth ranks, the goalkeeper spent 12 of his formative years at Rangers.

Failing to make a first-team appearance at senior level for the Govan side, however, Kelly signed a permanent deal with Livingston in 2018.

In the summer of 2019, Kelly then moved to English Championship side Queens Park Rangers, before returning to Scotland on loan at Motherwell during the 2021 January transfer window.

A permanent move at Fir Park followed, and now with his contract set to expire in North Lanarkshire on May 31, it appears the 28-year-old is on the cusp of returning to Ibrox.

According to The Sun, the offer for Kelly was one the goalkeeper could not turn down, and with second-string stopper Jon McLaughlin set to depart this summer, Kelly would join Robby McCrorie as first-team pick Jack Butland's understudy.

After Saturday's 3-3 draw against Hearts at Tynecastle, and the conclusion of the Scottish Premiership 2023/24 campaign, Rangers now turn their collective attention to this weekend's Scottish Cup Final 2024 against Celtic.

Saturday's Old Firm encounter marks the first time the sides have met in the competition's ultimate stage since 2002 - when Rangers overcame their rivals 3-2 at the national stadium.
