Reason Rangers-bound Cameron didn't feature for Dundee

The midfielder, 22, will join Rangers in the summer after signing a pre-contract with the Ibrox side.

Manager Tony Docherty vowed there would be no issue in Cameron playing for Dundee against Rangers and insisted he had no concerns.

However, Cameron was not involved in the bonkers 4-3 win for Rangers at Dens Park due to an injury picked up in training.

In his pre-match press conference, Docherty said: “Lyall picked up a knock so we’re sending him for a scan. 

“He felt his hamstring so we have to wait and see what it shows up. 

“It was just a tweak at the end of training, so finger-crossed he will be okay. 

“We’ll just have to wait and see what the scan says because you never know with these ones until they take a look at it.

“The boys who were away on international duty have all come back fine."

On the loss, Docherty said: “The overriding emotion is huge disappointment. I can’t focus on anything but the fact we’ve lost a game we should never lose.

“The expected goals for us was 2.8, Rangers was 2.4 and we had numerous chances.

“It tells its own story that we are third in the league for goals scored but bottom of the league for goals conceded.

“At 3-3 Simon Murray goes through and I think he’s scored the winner. Then we’re picking the ball out of our own net and losing 4-3.

“It’s really hard to take. Three goals should be enough to win a game.”
