Danny Rohl will not think in a 'negative' manner about trying to win a trophy with Rangers this season.

The German is set to take charge of his first game as the Ibrox club's head coach on Thursday evening against Brann.

Rangers travel to face the Norwegian outfit in Europa League action.

Ahead of the match, Rohl was asked how disappointed he would be if he didn't win a trophy this season.

"This is a question I will not think [about] in a negative direction," replied the 36-year-old. "I make the focus on the next games, and if you take the period from today until the next international break, I think we will see where we are.

"I am convinced we will be in a good position, and then we can see which direction we can go for the next step."

Rohl has admitted that he will make changes to the Rangers starting lineup in Norway after under-19s head coach Stevie Smith led the team to a 2-2 draw with Dundee United on Saturday.

"We will maybe have some changes in the starting 11," Rohl continued. "But I’ve been honest with my team. In two days, I’ve had to take impressions from videos and training sessions.

"You need a bit more time to know all the details. That’s important for me as a coach because I like to make adjustments during the game.

"I have to understand which players I can bring in for different situations. That’s something I have to learn very soon.

"I spoke to them about basic things, I didn’t want to overload them with too much details. But we need some things to improve, especially in Europe, when you have such a big game ahead. We have to understand how we go into such a game."
