Youssef Chermiti has pinpointed his double against Celtic as the catalyst for his relationship with Rangers supporters strengthening.

The Ibrox forward netted twice in the 3-1 victory at Parkhead in January.

After the match, Chermiti was lauded by supporters packed into the away section at the stadium.

Chermiti has insisted he always knew Rangers supporters were "crazy in a good way" as he recalled the huge show of support after his winning goals.

In the Rangers FC programme, Chermiti remarked: "I always knew how crazy our fans are in a good way; they appreciate me all the time.

"That day they gave me a lot of love and since then I am more involved with the club and that strengthened my relationship with the fans."

On the criticism he faced for his early performances for the club, Chermiti said: "This is what I work for, this is what I dream of.

"Playing for Rangers is a pressure, but playing for a big club, I love that. I don't really take [criticism] that personally.

"I think that's normal for a big club. The fans always want the best for the club, so that's normal."

On the reception from supporters after his double against Celtic, the striker commented: "This is normal in football. Sometimes fans give you hate, sometimes they give you love.

"It's normal in football because they are fans. I understand that and I love that.

"Even when sometimes they can go wrong, this is football.
