Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg reckons Rangers were "unlucky" not to be awarded a penalty against Motherwell.
The experienced whistler believes Djeidi Gassama was fouled inside the box in the first half of the 3-2 loss to Motherwell at Ibrox on Sunday.
Referee Kevin Clancy had given a free-kick for the Lukas Fadinger tackle on Gassama, signalling that the foul was just outside the box.
However, Clattenburg has revealed his view that the contact for the foul began inside the box, meaning a spot-kick should have been given.
“I think Rangers were unlucky not to get a penalty kick for a foul by Motherwell’s Lukas Fadinger on Rangers’ Djeidi Gassama," he told Rangers News.
“The contact that created the foul started just inside the penalty area, and the VAR should have recommended a review.
“I can understand the initial call of the referee to award it outside as he may have had a doubt, but replays show the contact starts inside the penalty area, so a penalty kick should have been awarded.”

Clattenburg's view comes in contrast to Dermot Gallagher who backed the call and praised Clancy for being so decisive.
He said: “It’s all about the point of contact, and that’s why the referee has done really well.
“He’s in the most perfect position to make the judgment.
“What I really liked was, before anyone can moan at him, he points to where it happened.
“He’s so decisive. He sells it.”
Pundit Michael Stewart had claimed a foul should have been given to Motherwell instead.
“I don’t think it’s a foul, and if it is, I think it’s a foul for Motherwell," said Stewart on Premier Sports Social Club. "Gassama puts his leg across the Motherwell player; he doesn’t play the ball.
"Even if the Motherwell player doesn’t make contact, I’m not sure he’s going to maintain balance.
“He stretches that far in front of the Motherwell player that he’s not keeping his own balance. He’s fouled the Motherwell player as far as I’m concerned.”
Stewart then clarified: "If you are going to give a free-kick for that, it should be a penalty because it's on the line.
"But I am telling you, it's never a foul for Rangers - it's a foul for the Motherwell player."
