I had to leave Rangers but I'm back with unfinished business

The 28-year-old has rejoined the Ibrox side on an initial three-year deal with the club holding the option for a one-year extension.

McCrorie returns to Rangers after leaving in 2021 to sign for Aberdeen under Derek McInnes, who is now the manager at Rangers.

For McCrorie, the only way he was going to return to Scotland would be if an offer came up to join his boyhood club Rangers.

"I still watch the team every week," he told Rangers TV.

"The only way I would have come back to Scotland would have been for Rangers. It was only going to be Rangers.

"To get the opportunity to come back up here was a dream come true."

McCrorie joins Rangers from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of £900k.

And the Scotland internationalist is grateful for his experience away from Rangers at Aberdeen and Bristol City, even if he was thrilled to return to Ibrox.

At the time of his departure in 2021, McCrorie felt he had to leave Rangers and put in the "hard yards".

"At the time, I had to leave. For me, it was part of my development," he said.

"I had to go and leave to experience something new, go and play in a team, try and be main man somewhere and develop myself as a player and as a character.

"I had to go and do the hard yards at Aberdeen and Bristol City. It was a great experience, a great learning curve.

"I think deep down, in the back of my mind it was always some, for me, unfinished business."
