Lewis Mayo has completed a transfer return to Kilmarnock.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan in Ayrshire from Rangers and now returns on a permanent deal.

It's understood Kilmarnock paid a six-figure transfer fee to land the defender on a three-year deal.

A club statement read: "Kilmarnock Football Club are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Lewis Mayo, who has joined from Rangers for an undisclosed fee.

"The former Scotland Under-21 international will be available for this weekend’s Viaplay League Cup clash against Dunfermline Athletic, pending SFA approval."

A Rangers statement added: "Rangers Football Club can today confirm the departure of Lewis Mayo to Kilmarnock for an undisclosed fee.

"Joining the club at just seven-years-old, Mayo progressed through Rangers Academy making his first-team debut at Ibrox in a friendly against Oxford United in July 2019.

"The defender, who has represented Scotland at under-21 level, featured in the UEFA Youth League for Rangers while also spending time on loan at Partick Thistle, Dunfermline Athletic and Kilmarnock.
