IT'S not often I disagree with Brian Laudrup, God himself!

But I have differed with him these last few days. His claimed in his Daily Mail newspaper column it was time for Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos to move aside, now that Joe Aribo is the main man at Ibrox.

Of course, it’s a wonderful place to be in that we should be arguing over who is our most dangerous player. This clearly indicates we have more than one player held in such regard.

It’s a judgement call and one which can invoke a lot of discussions but Brian has got it wrong here - or at least has been premature in his claim.

Aribo has been in sensational form but he hasn’t yet reached the consistent heights required at Rangers. The Nigerian is also yet to qualify as a big game match-winner - yet. And that’s really important here. Yet.

Aribo has still to scratch the surface in terms of his ceiling of development. But this is season three at the club, it is time he started to get towards that.

His upturn in form has coincided with the team's improvement in front of goal. It stretches back to the win over Motherwell, along with the return of Kent who we will come to shortly.

The midfielder has all the capabilities to be the main man of this Rangers team. He has unbelievable talent and I highly doubt anyone at the club possesses his close control. Having produced wonderful moments and notched some top-class goals, what he is yet to do is demonstrate consistent production of big moments in equally big games.

Now again, that isn’t a slight on Joe. However, towards the end of last season, after the cup victory in the Old Firm, we were questioning whether he had the capability to play in games of such magnitude.

That sounds critical but it isn’t meant to be. I'm merely suggesting that his upturn in form has been recent and I need it to be a bit more sustained before agreeing with Laudrup's assertion.

I really enjoy his contribution and have been as excited as anyone at his form - but the main man at Ibrox is still Ryan Kent. His On-Ball Value when drilling and carrying the ball, a StatsBomb metric that records every action to quantify a player's impact, demonstrates this.

Rangers Review:

Kent is irreplaceable in this team. He is amongst only a small band of two or three others that Rangers would struggle without.

His lengthy thirteen game absence was keenly felt as Rangers struggled to break teams down and stuttered in front of goal. The game against Motherwell was a notable exception.

His immediate return, half-fit away to Brondby, brought with it a crucial assist and he subsequently burst back onto the scene with a stunning goal against Ross County.

Kent was key and indeed should have netted at least once as he spurned vital chances against Sparta Prague. At Easter Road it was his driving runs that eventually brought the breakthrough as he was felled by Ryan Porteous. No one has the pace and skill to chop as quickly and win that spot-kick in a game where a breakthrough seemed elusive.

And that’s the vital difference. Kent is that match-winner, the gem that’s capable of doing something different and sparking this team into life. Kent also has his defensive game on point, works his bollocks off for this team and the upturn in Borna Barisic’s form is also coupled with the winger's return.

But what is also massively true is both Kent and Aribo vibe and play off each other. If Aribo can take this recent form into the vital next six league games and Kent can do similar, opponents will find the collective result difficult to combat. We will need them both over the next four weeks.

If you were to ask me now who would be the match-winner, and who I would want running at the opposing defence late in the game, it would still be the former Liverpool attacker.

Don’t forget, Kent terrifies teams and Celtic, in particular, remain haunted by his ability - so much so it became a meme last term.

For me, he remains our biggest threat - but what a wonderful discussion to have. Disagreeing on our main asset underlines the squad's strength.

I would love nothing more than Laudrup firing back mid-January saying 'I told you so' because that will mean that Aribo has continued his form and the club have been successful.

That’s the only thing that is important is Rangers winning and staying where we belong.

Also a note to my bosses here at The Rangers Review, I’d be happy to travel to Denmark to discuss this further with Brian and perhaps then decide just who is the key man at Ibrox - (You can only try!)

We haven’t even mentioned Alfredo, just imagine if he could get his 2019 mojo back, ah! Now that’s a major discussion I would love to have. Whether it’s Aribo, Kent, Morelos or even Tav, the only thing that matters is we keep winning.

It’s Ryan Kent though. Sorry Brian!
