Rangers reduced the gap to Celtic at the top of the Premiership to six points with an excellent performance in a 4-0 win over St Mirren.

A hat-trick from Kemar Roofe and a gorgeous strike from Joe Aribo were the difference but in truth, it should have been more as Rangers found a level of menace that has eluded them in recent weeks.

Here are the biggest points of interest from the comfortable win.

Roofe is on fire!

The Jamaica international is the deadliest finisher at the club but has seen his season curtailed by injury and indifferent form. With Alfredo Morelos out, the onus has fallen on Roofe to be the main man and he finally delivered in spades today. His two headers were nearly identical, both showcasing his ability to drift away from markers and find space in even the most tightly congested box. He completed his treble with a low shot three yards from goal and you could see from his reaction how much it meant. A firing Roofe has arrived not a moment too soon with the most important two games of the season coming in the next week against Braga and Celtic.

Injury worries

After the three points, Giovanni van Bronckhorst would have been keen to see his side emerge unscathed by injury. It was not to be. John Lundstram limped off after 25 minutes with a groin injury while Filip Helander was helped from the pitch and replaced by Leon King. It did not look good for the Sweden international.

The loss of Lundstram will be felt if he's kept out of the team given how good he's been, especially on the Europa League stage. The good news is that Steven Davis is a more than adequate replacement at the base of the midfield. Rangers will hope that neither player is out for the long term given the intensity of the run-in they face in the months ahead.

Barisic isn't finished yet

The Croat famously rescued a Rangers career going nowhere with a stunning free-kick on this ground and he rolled back the months here with another excellent display. His quality of ball is on a different planet to first choice Calvin Bassey and after a poor season finally found the kind of performance that made him one of the most impressive creators in Scotland over the last couple of seasons. It was a performance dripping with quality and attacking intent as he flashed numerous quality crosses into the box. If he can find this level then he won't be long in usurping Bassey from the starting XI.
