Our writers pick their teams to face RB Leipzig in the Europa League semi-final.

The main outcome tomorrow has to be securing a result that allows Ibrox to believe ahead of next week’s second leg.

Allan McGregor will retain his spot in goals, behind the back four that ended Saturday’s win in Lanarkshire. While Leon Balogun would offer experience and aerial prowess, Calvin Bassey’s athleticism and pace across the ground will likely be favoured against a team of Leipzig’s ability.

John Lundstram and Ryan Jack will prop up the midfield as usual with Glen Kamara making up the midfield compliment.

In the forward line, expect van Bronckhorst to opt for a false No.9 in the form of Joe Aribo. Fashion Sakala isn’t suited to holding the ball up and playing with his back to goal but can provide a threat from the wide left. While the right side isn’t Kent’s favoured position, his ability with both feet and stronger game intelligence than Sakala makes him a better option to play ahead of Janes Tavernier.

Predicted line-up: McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Bassey, Barisic, Lundstram, Jack, Kamara, Aribo, Sakala, Kent

It's a huge night for both van Bronckhorst and Rangers. It's not often Scottish teams have the opportunity to strive for European silverware, but here we are, just two games from a final that nobody gave the Govan side any hope of making.

The defence picks itself and although Allan McGregor will play, I'd plump for McLaughlin due to his ability to take crosses.

Lundstram will start at the base of midfield, allowing the team to alternate between a back four and five when required.

The ball retention skill and experience of Steven Davis makes him an obvious pick on a night when cool heads will be needed.

The front three has no recognised striker and I'd suggest dropping Aribo into a number 10 position and allow him licence to roam. If he can channel his physicality properly, he can help give the Germans a very difficult time.

Further forward still are Sakala and Kent, operating in a similar fashion to Liverpool's wingers Mo Salah and Sadio Mane. They will need to come from out to in and look to break through the Leipzig last line cleverly. Their pace is a huge asset at this level and especially in a game where the home side will look to assert themselves as the dominant force.

Predicted line-up: McLaughlin, Tavernier, Goldson, Bassey, Barisic, Lundstram, Jack, Davis, Aribo, Sakala, Kent
