What a difference a week makes!

Seven days ago there was palpable and growing discord on social media about transfer business at Rangers, or a lack of it, and now three exciting new players have been unveiled to acclaim.

The fans are suddenly sated, and no wonder because despite a lack of household names all three new boys look set to give Rangers attributes they have been missing.

The stand out is Tom Lawrence. The former Derby captain is a killer from inside 30 yards with a deadly, dipping shot. He's not the quickest winger but he's tricky and capable of the spectacular.

In short, he's exactly what Rangers have been crying out for in recent years. Low-block defence strategies have caused untold pain for various Ibrox managers going back to Mark Warburton's era but the Welsh international looks a tailor-made solution with his wicked, dipping strikes.

In Croatia international Antonio Colak, Rangers have signed a physically robust striker capable of leading the line, linking play and being a fox in the box. His goal record in Sweden and Croatia suggests he's excellent at finding space in packed defences.

Seven years younger than the aforementioned duo, Rabbi Matondo arrives from Schalke with a big reputation. He's got plenty of potential but is still finding his feet and scouting suggests a rawness in his game. In spite of this, his explosive pace and eye for goal means he will offer another option to Giovanni van Bronckhorst as he looks to continue his tactical horses for courses approach.

The upshot of this signing splash is if Rangers were lacking forward options, they are now spoiled for choice. The squad looks in fantastic shape across nearly all positions.

Rangers Review:

The one remaining area that, departures dependant, still needs work is in midfield where at least one mobile attacking midfielder capable of going box-to-box is still required.

The Rangers Review understands Bayern Munich's powerful, rangy youngster Malik Tillman is very much on the club's radar while other options are also being assessed.

One player that won't be arriving is Cameron Congreve of Swansea. Reports down south earlier today suggested the player had signed a new deal with the Welsh club after rejecting a loan offer but Ibrox insiders were perplexed by the suggestion and adamant there was no enquiry, let alone an approach.

Regardless of who ends up signing, it's clear Ross Wilson's work is far from over but you'd have to say, on paper at least, the hard yards have been put in to address the glaring issues from last year.

They say a week is a long time in politics. It's an age in football.
