Allan McGregor: Perhaps could have done better with the goal from Smith which seemed to ricochet off his leg and up into the net.  Struggles to build the play as effectively as Jon McLaughlin in these type of games but always shows personality and dominance over his backline. 6

James Tavernier: Looked a lot more confident and capable physically than in recent matches as he eases back to full fitness following injury. Played a major part in the goal, picking out Colak with a wonderful cut-back for the opener. His driving run in the lead up was Tavernier at his best. 7

Borna Barisic: A gorgeous delivery for Colak's second goal showed the Croat at his most deadly. Was troubled at times down the left-flank and Liam Smith's goal came from his area of the pitch. 6

Connor Goldson: Steady throughout and helped marshall the rearguard as United pushed for an equaliser. King will be learning a lot being talked through games by the experienced 30-year-old. Nearly created a goal for Tillman with a lovely cushioned header back to Tillman. 7

Leon King: Looked assured in possession but is still raw, as you might expect for an 18-year-old establishing himself in the men's game. He's clearly talented and capable in terms of building from the back which is a major boon for a modern central defender. Fans will have to be patient as time and experience combine to improve his game. Booked late on. 6

John Lundstram: A solid display in the middle, holding the play with aggression and a smart use of the ball for the most part. Has started to move forward with intent from a deep position and find space between the lines, a very promising development against low-blocks. 7

Ryan Jack: The midfielder was unusually asked to play for the second time in four days and responded by being a calming presence in the engine room. Kept the ball moving before being substituted with 20 minutes to go. 6

Charlie McCann: Sharp and bright, making clever runs into space throughout. He looks to create through the middle with quick interchanges and is a buzz-bomb of energy and application. Clearly has a big future and got into enough promising positions to suggest he will score plenty of goals in the years ahead. 7

Ryan Kent: Looks a shadow of the player we know he can be. Needs to find his mental sharpness as much as anything and is going through the worst spell of form he's suffered in a rollercoaster four and a half years in Scotland. Substituted on 70 minutes for Scott Wright. 5

Scott Arfield: Didn't offer much other than his usual high level of effort. At 34, you wonder if it's wise to ask him to go to the well twice in a week too often going forward. Substituted on 70 minutes for Malik Tillman. 5

Antonio Colak: Seven goals in September has been a great return for the £1.8m signing and he's showing all the signs of being a goal machine at this level. He's easily the best finisher at the club and has already shown he doesn't need a glut of chances to get on the scoresheet. He has an unerring ability to hit low shots with little backlift that leave keepers in deep trouble as he did with his first. His second was a deft flick, turning in a brilliant cross and illustrated he also has finesse to match his power. The one, undisputable success of the summer window. 8

Substitutes

Scott Wright: Looked in the mood after coming on and drew a great save from down to his left. 5

Malik Tillman: Had the chance to play in Colak after Carljohan Eriksson's blunder but his pass was overhit. Went close with a late header he should have scored with. Looked lively and bright on his introduction though. 5
