Last weekend's win against Raith was as straightforward as expected but it still highlighted obvious points of action for Michael Beale.

The Kirkcaldy side were disciplined and organised, playing with 11 men behind the ball and slowing the game at every opportunity in a bid to frustrate Rangers.

At times it was reminiscent of a training game, with players going through the motions. Overall, it was a professional if not spectacular performance. We will never learn much from these games aside from the highlighted points that are already known.

This squad has a real issue dictating the tempo and setting the standards in a game. Rangers will very easily allow themselves to get dragged down and play side-to-side, at the convenience of the opposition. That’s what happened on Sunday and it's an area that's proved a hindrance all too often in recent campaigns.

Even this season, despite an obvious upturn under Michael Beale, matches against Dundee, Partick Thistle and then Raith have shown such a trend. In these matches, we can't be sucked into playing the game at a tempo and pace that suits the opposition.

But that’s an observation, there is little room for criticism after three good wins in a week. Credit to the squad for that, Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin have helped to re-energise the team and the manager rightly said he wants "more like that" when the summer window opens.

Don't we all, Michael!

It harks back to a topic of conversation in a previous collum. Both Cantwell and Raskin have started the work that needs to be done this summer by arriving in January. Regardless of how this season finishes, a revamp is required so that more players with similar profiles to that duo arrive at Ibrox.

But that wasn't the biggest talking point of the weekend.

Speaking to Viaplay, Beale made it clear that he wants to keep the two Ryans (Kent and Jack) beyond the summer, but wasn't quite so bullish when discussing Alfredo Morelos' future.

"I need to see a little bit more from him day in, day out. I think when he's played and the team has needed him, he’s fine. But I want more energy. Can he provide that? If he can, he’s a better option than what he’s been in the last few months," he said.

Those words are pretty damning - is this last chance saloon for Alfredo? Does he have the necessary enthusiasm for Rangers left? If he has been paying attention then he will know his manager is throwing the gauntlet down.

Perhaps Morelos does need a move, perhaps he has lost enthusiasm and if that’s the case then he leaves with no ill feelings. Sometimes the time is right for everyone. Alfredo is a huge personality but for a team to breathe tough decisions must be made at certain points.

A final flourish or a return to form, I’d be shocked if it wasn’t the former.

We’ll find out soon enough, it might be right for everyone to say goodbye. Or it may just spark the Colombian into life and save his long-term Rangers career.

Michael Beale has spoken, it's now up to Morelos to listen.

Rangers Review:

Finally, Nnamdi Ofoborh had a little bit of Sunday night exposure after speaking on Instagram. I don’t blame him for being frustrated or even upset, he’s entitled to that. His dream move has been ruined by a horrible situation. He will be angry and if he blows off some steam, I get it.

I'm sure Rangers will continue to give him all the help, support and treatment the club can. Speedy recovery Nnamdi, but your health comes first.

And, we know that it's Celtic in the Scottish Cup semis, on top of two more league clashes to come. In reality, everything hinges on these matches before now and the end of the campaign, regardless of results elsewhere.

We must be successful and we must win things, and that starts with Old Firm matches.
