RANGERS coach Roy Makaay has urged his players to keep it simple after warning "tricks are for the circus" in his first training session.
The Dutchman joined the club under new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst as a first-team coach and worked with the players for the first time today.
In a training video released by the club fans have been given a glimpse into the style of the new management team.
And Makaay was quick to call out his players for tricks instead of simple passing in a possession drill.
The former Deportivo and Bayern Munich striker was filmed watching a drill involving a number of key players when he gave the warning.
After a break in play he appeared to look at winger Ryan Kent as he told the players: "Play it simple. Tricks are for the circus."
It comes as youngsters Charlie McCann and Juan Alegria joined in tarining with the first-team under Van Bronckhorst.
Jermaine Defoe was also seen training with the squad during the manager's first session.
