KRIS BOYD reckons Giovanni van Bronckhorst might have to bring Allan McGregor back in as Rangers No1 after Jon McLaughlin's derby nightmare against Celtic.

The Ibrox boss made the huge call to go with McLaughlin as his first-choice keeper this season after convincing McGregor to sign a new deal at the club.

But, Boyd has made a case for McGregor to return to the starting berth as he insisted the Rangers boss has some big decisions to make after the 4-0 mauling against Celtic.

McLaughlin got a hand to Abada's opener but couldn't keep it out, he was then chipped by Jota with a sublime finish before Abada fired another this time through his legs.

And the fourth goal summed up McLaughlin's nightmare afternoon as he passed the ball to David Turnbull to tuck home.

Branding the loss an annihilation, Boyd commented: "For me, I think Giovanni has a few decisions to make and one of them is in nets.

"I think you need big players, you need people who are going to stand up and be characters at this moment in time.

"He might just have to put Allan McGregor back in goals."

And analysing the catastrophic fourth goal, Boyd fumed over the decision not to play the ball long and clear of any danger.

He added: "Jon McLaughlin has got three, four seconds to then just say say right I'm just going to (long).

"I'd rather lose it with Alfredo Morelos in a battle on the halfway line than lose it there.

"I don't understand why teams continuously try to pass and probe out from the back.

"The game is over, it's an annihilation and you've just added to it."
