Rangers made sure they'll go to Parkhead knowing they can go level at the top of the Premiership table with a win after disposing of Kilmarnock at Ibrox but, like many games this season, was it another missed opportunity?

Philippe Clement's men came from behind to record a 4-1 victory but were often found wanting in the final third. The goal difference department sees Ranges trail their arch-rivals by five, could they have done more to eat into that on Sunday?

Let's take a deeper look at the stats...

As the graphic below illustrates, this was a game that Rangers dominated from start to finish. Not only that, it was the most one-sided display all season.

The Race Chart below tells us if this game was played 100 times then Rangers would win every single time. It's the only occasion this has happened this term.

The other notable matches of dominance were the two home wins over Livingston where Rangers scored 92 and 85 percent respectively, the 2-1 win over Hearts back in October where Rangers recorded 99 percent and the 2-0 win over St Johnstone in December when Rangers scored 95 percent.

What's particularly impressive about the stat is that Rangers, not for the first time this season, had to come from behind after losing a poor goal in the early stages.

But if we take a glance at Kilmarnock's Shot Map, they were afforded very few opportunities. Even the goal wasn't a shot as such with James Tavernier deflecting a ball knocked back inside into his own net.

On the other hand, Rangers' Shot Map reveals this was a game where it was very much one-way traffic. Four goals from 41 attempts is just ever so slightly under-performing the xG of 4.26.

Speaking afterwards, Clement felt his team could've scored more if they had been more clinical in front of goal: "Frustration is a bad word if you score four goals," he said.

"Of course, you want more goals like any manager. But I know also that teams struggle against a team of ten who are all defending to create these opportunities. So in that way, we did a lot of things good and scored good goals.

"We missed a penalty and it should have been five. Efficiency is never perfect. You have maybe one or two games in your career as a manager where every chance is a goal. I didn’t have this moment yet, so I am hoping maybe next week or the next couple of months it will happen once."

As Clement rightly points out, Tavernier should've levelled matters from the penalty spot but saw his attempt palmed away by Will Dennis. The graphic below highlights it was well-struck by the captain which indicates how good a stop it was from the Kilmarnock goalkeeper.

Fabio Silva hasn't produced enough quality moments since arriving on loan from Wolves but his goal on the stroke of half-time is something he should be doing more of.

He latched onto a John Lundstram cross by nipping in front of his man to convert. Before the ball left his boot, it recorded an xG of 0.39 before jumping up to 0.93 when he connected. In Layman's terms, an almost certain goal as soon as he made contact.

Ben Davies and John Souttar would net either side of a Tom Lawrence stunner as Rangers racked up a trio of goals in the second half. Lawrence is someone who's struggled for form of late but his appearance from the bench was much more positive and surely puts him in the frame for a starting berth at Parkhead.

His goal was exceptional, the skill to create the angle to get a shot away was a joy to behold before he curled an unstoppable effort into the corner.

The PostShot xG of 0.68 indicates how clean a hit this was. He was also influential in Rangers' fourth when his stinging strike was parried up into the air by Dennis before Souttar nodded home the rebound.

His ability to take shots from distance is something Rangers may require against Celtic on Saturday and he has done himself no harm in putting himself in the manager's thoughts.

All in all, despite a commanding display there was still an overriding feeling that this Rangers team are capable of more, particularly in front of goal. They can't afford to pass up any opportunities that come their way across the city next weekend with the title very much on the line.
