RANGERS have lifted the Glasgow Cup courtesy of a 3-1 win over Queen's Park at Broadwood Stadium.

The Ibrox kids didn't have long to wait before they raced into an early lead. With just three minutes on the clock, some neat work from Robbie Fraser down the left wing saw the ball played to Cole McKinnon on the edge of the Queen's Park area, who rifled it home for 1-0.

The Spiders quickly recovered from their slow start and soon started asking some questions of their own. Lewis Budinauckas had to be alert to snuff out a dangerous-looking cross from Max Gillies before they equalised through Dylan Ruiz-Diaz on 22 minutes when he turned home Scott Williamson's cut-back.

Tony Weston and Charlie McCann both went close for Rangers as they searched for a response and Williamson then had the ball in the back of the net shortly before half-time for Queen's Park, only for the goal to be chopped off for offside.

Queens keeper Jacques Heraghty produced a fine stop to deny Murray Miller around the hour mark and Kane Ritchie-Hosler went close for the Rangers kids a few minutes later but was unable to restore his side's lead.

Substitute Robbie Ure then put the Ibrox side back in front as he reacted quickest to a loose ball with 20 minutes to go before McCann all but sealed the win a few minutes later from the penalty spot after Heraghty brought down Ure in the box.

Ronan Darcy almost pulled one back for Queen's Park on 87 minutes after finding himself in some space but watched his effort rattle the crossbar as the match finished 3-1.
