Everything the manager said at his pre-St Mirren press conference.

What have you made of St Mirren so far?

They’ve had a great start to the season, in the last six I think they’ve won five games. They are very recognisable in the way they play. Aggressive, quick behind the strikers with a lot of runners from midfield, strong in transition and compact defensively. If you are third in the league it means that you started the season well so credit to St Mirren for the way they’ve started in the league.

Is it frustrating learning on the job in the Champions League?

Frustrated is not the right word because it’s frustrating if you’re underperforming or not beating a team you should have. Of course, it is a huge learning process for my players to play in the Champions League. Although it is very hard and we haven’t won points this is the level you want to compete in, everyone wants to be involved in the Champions League but it is very tough. Look at the teams who are struggling to get into the top two, really good teams in Europe. This is the level you want to compete in although the lessons you learn are really hard. We are keeping improving in the Champions League if you compare Ajax to Liverpool. As a team, we will become stronger and we need to take that back into domestic football.

What can Scottish clubs learn in Europe, is it all about money?

It’s not all about money. Of course, you can get good results in the Champions League if everything is perfect on the day. You hit your best form and all your players are in the game. It’s also the opponents you face and the experience. Look at all the teams we are playing. Liverpool have played three of the last five Champions League finals, that’s incredible. Then you have to make sure you stay in the game. We conceded only twice from set-pieces against Liverpool. Of course, we were under pressure in large parts of the game but if you see the games we lost before we were already out of it in the first 20 or 25 minutes. We did much better against Liverpool.

Do you need more from Ryan Kent?

He has to bring more. Ryan is an exceptional player with a lot of quality. The performance he had against Hearts was a really good one with a lot of threat going forward. His quality hasn’t been there every game. He just needs to be consistent and make sure he is in the best positions on the pitch to be dangerous, to have an assist or score the chances he creates. The goal against Hearts was a great example of when he comes in and makes sure he hits the target. He is definitely a player who can give us more goals and assists.

Rangers Review:

Is there any scenario in which you’d play Colak and Morelos in your starting line-up?

Everything is possible. They are two players who have a goal threat. Colak has started the campaign fantastically and Morelos is getting stronger and scoring goals. Kemar Roofe is back in full training with the squad which gives us another option. I think during moments in games they are capable of playing together. We have to wait and see when that is. From the start when we have to force a goal in moments. They can definitely both be on the pitch at the same time.

Can you give us a squad update?

I don’t have any news on Tom Lawrence that I can share. It’s still the same we are waiting. James Sands is back from suspension against Liverpool and we have no worries from midweek.

Has Robby McCrorie been given assurances regarding his game time?

No, I didn’t speak about additional game time with Robby. Of course, I’m happy that he has signed a new contract because he is a very talented goalkeeper, already involved with the national team. For him, it’s really good and if you look long-term it’s good to have a talented young goalkeeper.

Could Ryan Kent play on the right?

If you see his qualities he can play also from the right. If you see the games he has played his more natural position is on the left but we used Rabbi [Matondo] on the left as well, starting against St Johnstone and from the bench. I think we have wingers who can play both sides, for Ryan, his natural position is on the left but if needed he can also be playing on the right.
