RANGERS defender Connor Goldson could be in line for a quick return to the field this weekend.

Light Blues boss Steven Gerrard is hopeful his star man will be able to recover from injury in time to feature in the top of the table clash.

The centre-back missed last night’s 1-0 Europa League defeat to Sparta Prague after picking up a knock in training.

This left Gerrard with somewhat of a defensive headache - with Filip Helander out injured, Jack Simpson not in the squad and Nikola Katic out on loan.

Calvin Bassey partnered Leon Balogun at the heart of the Gers' defence, with Borna Barisic playing in his usual left-back.

Rangers travel home from the Czech capital today as they step up their preperations for Sunday's game against Hibs.

And Gerard is keeping his fingers crossed Goldson will be ready.

He told the media: “Hopefully Connor will get through training tomorrow and make the squad for Sunday.”

He added: "Bacuna (who was subbed off with injury) we hope we have addressed the situation before it is too severe.

“He will have some work in the next 48-hours and has a small chance to be involved on Sunday.

“Last night we had to run fast and hard which is why we required Fashion Jr (Sakala)

“In general, I'm looking to find a more settled team and find a rhythm but it has been challenging, I think it is only Steven Davis that has been available for every game this season.

“We are looking for that spark and we know we have been short recently, but it will come as we have really good players here.”
