RANGERS are close to agreeing a new deal for Jon McLaughlin - and they want to tie down Alex Lowry on an improved contract too.

Experienced No.2 McLaughlin is in to the final six-months of his current deal.

But it appears he is close to agreeing an extension, according to the Daily Record

The keeper has made just 10 appearances this season, but since arriving in 2020 he has been a solid back-up to Allan McGregor.

McGregor's contract also expires at the end of this season - but it remains to be seen whether or not he will continue playing.

The report also states that Rangers are ready to open talks over a new deal with teenage talent Lowry too.

The 18-year-old bagged on his debut against Stirling Albion in the Scottish Cup on Friday night.

He has 18-months left on his current contract, so the club are keen to tie him down on improved terms.
