Connor Goldson admits had Rangers' game against Aberdeen been played around six-weeks-ago then they wouldn't have won.

Michael Beale's side snatched victory from the jaws of defeat late last night as they beat the Dons 3-2.

Scott Arfield struck a deadly double in added time to break Aberdeen hearts, with Jim Goodwin's side leading until the 95th-minute.

It was a great show of character by the Gers team, as they cut the gap to Celtic at the top of the table back to six points.

And Goldson, who returned to the starting line-up after around two-months out with injury, reckons it shows how far Rangers have come in a short space of time under Beale.

He told RangersTV: "It obviously wasn't pretty, but again it's three points.

"We said in there, in probably the last two games, in the last six or eight weeks, we probably wouldn't have won those games. I've obviously been watching from the stands.

"Hopefully now we can get a bit of confidence back as a whole group and start picking up three points more often.

"It hasn't been nice, when we've conceded goals it's looked like we can't come back into games.

"Obviously the boys have tried their best but it hasn't happened. We haven't created chances, whereas today we kept going and luckily got two chances and Scotty put them away."

On his injury comeback itself, he added: "I'm happy, but I'm absolutely knackered. I've trained twice, but I want to play.

"I knew whenever the first game was that it was going to be hard. I knew I had to get that out of the way and try to recover now.

"I just wanted to play as soon as I could and I'm really happy to be back."

Goldson hopes the squad can take a great amount of confidence from their recent wins over Hibs and Aberdeen.

He continued: "It's important to keep building on these wins. I don't think it's the best we've played and I don't think it's the best we will play.

"At the same time, over the season you have to pick up three points playing ugly sometimes and hopefully with those two victories now it can build confidence.

"We've had a home win and an away win against two of the better teams in the league. Hopefully we can go into Friday and get another three points."

As touched upon, Rangers' attentions now turn to their game against Ross County on Friday night.

Beale's men will prepare for the quickfire away trip on December 23.

And Goldson clearly wishes he and his teammates had a longer break between games.

He said: "Yeah, lovely. Three days.

"Listen, it would've been a lot worse if we hadn't won the game.

"We've won. The changing room is a happy place. We'll be in tomorrow, I'm sure the manager will want to analyse some things and how we can improve, which we need to."
