Confident Philippe Clement insists Rangers can win the title after going joint-top of the Premiership with Celtic.

His side defeated Aberdeen 2-1 at Ibrox last night in what could turn out to be a huge night in the race for the league come the end of the season.

Todd Cantwell scored a second-half winner for the hosts after Rabbi Matondo's early opener was cancelled out by prolific Dons frontman Bojan Miovski.

When Clement took over from Michael Beale in October Celtic were seven points ahead of their arch-Glasgow rivals. Now, after last night's win, they're level on points, with the champions only ahead on goal difference.

Brendan Rodgers' side travel to Edinburgh to play Hibernian this evening and will aim to go three points ahead having played a game more than Rangers.

Clement has every confidence in his players to go all the way this season though, with the Scottish Cup and Europa League still up for grabs too.

Asked if Rangers can top the tree come May, he told BBC: "I believe totally in that. I believe this team can go a really long way if they keep on doing what they are doing.

"If they stick together, there are no egos and everyone is thinking about the team and not themselves, then we can have a really great season in three competitions. We're still fighting for three competitions, not for one.

"Of course, it's a big win. It's a game where things go against you and the luck is not on your side, let's call it like that. We dominate totally the first-half, play good football and they have one good opportunity directly at goal just before half-time.

"A moment like that a few months ago would've created some tension in the heads of the team and some doubts with the fans also. That's not the case anymore, so everybody keeps ongoing on the pitch that we're close to three points if we keep on doing what we've been doing for weeks and months.

"That's getting better also. In the end with ten players and the other circumstances, you need to stick together like the team did so it's a massive thing to win games like that. Those are the games that normally you lose points during the season, so if we start winning those points it can be massive by the end of the season."
