Joey Barton has threatened to 'slap' Celtic star Greg Taylor should he ever bump into him after THAT tackle in 2016.

The Englishman spent just a few months with Rangers after joining the club under Mark Warburton.

One of the few appearances the midfielder made was against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

The game finished in a 1-1 draw in Ayrshire, with James Tavernier cancelling out Kris Boyd's early strike.

The visitors had a man advantage for a decent portion of the match though, when Taylor crunched Barton around the halfway line.

The Scotland international, only a few games into his breakthrough season, was immediately sent off for the shocking challenge, as the Rangers fans chanted 'One Joey Barton'.

Yesterday, Barton, 41, was reminded of the tackle amid one of his plethora of social media rants about women's football - and he didn't take too kindly to it as he took aim at the left-back.

He wrote on X: "He’s Celtic’s left back now. Look how far ahead of him I am. Seen him coming. He’s tried to break my leg. Already had it none weight-bearing. Straight Red Card.

"See you later d***head. Hid in their dressing room after the little p***y. Don’t worry he’s getting a good slap if I ever run into him in the wild. I’ll post the video of me terrorising him on here so you can all see what a little f***y he is."

Taylor went on to enjoy a successful career at Kilmarnock before his impressive form earned him a move to Celtic in the summer of 2019. It's believed the defender was signed by Neil Lennon for just £1.8m.

While Barton continues his various tirades on social media, Taylor is in the midst of a Premiership title fight with Rangers, as Celtic looks to retain their crown.
