Youssef Chermiti is hoping to replicate his derby day heroics when Rangers host Celtic this lunchtime.

Just two months ago, the Portugal Under-21 forward scored twice as Danny Rohl's men produced a stunning comeback from a goal down at Celtic Park to win 3-1.

Rangers have the chance to move five points clear of their arch-city rivals with another victory at Ibrox this afternoon. This would also see them claw back to within four points of league leaders Hearts.

Chermiti is aware of the criticism he's come under from some sections of the Rangers support this season. However, he's comfortable in the knowledge that he has the backing of the majority of fans.

"It was a good feeling," he said when reflecting on the previous encounter between the sides in an interview featuring in Rangers' latest matchday program. "I didn't realise how good it was on the day but then the next few days after everything was around me.

"I have seen how important that game was. It was my first time playing in the derby, my first time scoring in it as well.

"It was good for me, for the team and for the club at the time. Everyone likes that game and we are going to try and do the same in the next couple because we have a few games against them. We are going to try and win all of them.

"I always knew how crazy our fans are in a good way; they appreciate me all the time. Of course, sometimes they are frustrated but that is normal, this is football.

"That day they gave me a lot of love and since then I am more involved with the club and that strengthened my relationship with the fans.

"Our target now is to win the league and the Scottish Cup. To do this we need to try to win every game and to make a difference every time we are on the pitch. It doesn't matter if it's Celtic or who we face, we just want to win.

"Looking at my time at Rangers so far, I have had some time to settle down but now I feel more comfortable in the city, in the club, with my teammates and I am now more involved within the team."
