Ally McCoist insists his views of Youssef Chermiti have not changed despite his stunning double in Rangers' 2-2 draw with Celtic yesterday.
The striker continued his big game habits in front of goal by firing another brace against the Scottish Premiership champions.
The first came in the form of an incredible overhead kick after only eight minutes.
This sent the home crowd wild, as Danny Rohl's men dominated the first-half. This was compounded when Chermiti capitalised on defensive errors by Celtic to poke home his second of the game.
However, the shine was somewhat taken off Chermiti's performance after the Hoops produced a comeback to salvage a point in the derby.
And speaking on talkSPORT this morning, McCoist was asked if he still stands by his comments about the striker being a mega money gamble.
He replied: “At that time? 100 per cent.
“By the way there’s still a lot a long way to go. He’s scored a couple of goals in an Old Firm game twice and two of them yesterday – particularly the first one – were out of this world.
“But if you are to play up front for Glasgow Rangers then you’ve got to score the only goal against Livingston, you’ve got to score in a 2-1 victory over Motherwell. That’s what you’ve got to do as well.
“He was terrific as was the rest of the team for the first 45 minutes yesterday. But let’s not get carried away, he’s got a long, long way to go and I genuinely hope he continues.

“It was a massive gamble and it still is. If we’re paying the best part of £10million which for us is a ridiculous amount of money. We’re in the £2m to £3m bracket which is still more than most Scottish teams but in par with Celtic. When we spend money like that then we’ve got to get it right.
“I was at the game and the boys were asking me that (if it was one of the best derby goals). It would come into the category. It was one of the best Old Firm goals I’ve seen live.
“It was stunning technique. Two great goals but in terms of the first one, the athleticism, it was brilliant.”
