THE NETWORK RAIL (GLASGOW QUEEN STREET STATION) ORDER 2017

1. Notice is hereby given that Network Rail (Glasgow Queen Street Station) Order 2017 ("the Order") was made by the Scottish Ministers on 11 April 2017.



2. Articles 16 to 18 of the Order provide for the purchase of inter alia such of the land described in the Schedule hereto ("the Land") for the purpose of the re-development of Glasgow Queen Street Station; for the acquisition of the subsoil of and servitudes and other rights in, on or over that land; and for the acquisition of the specific servitudes and other new rights described in columns (1), (2) and (3) of Part 2 of Schedule 6 to the Order for the purposes mentioned in column (4) of that Part. These acquisitions are authorised for the purpose of works to demolish (i) Consort House, 12 West George Street, (ii) the extension of the Millennium Hotel, George Square and (iii) the existing canopy in Dundas Street adjoining the west elevation of Glasgow Queen Street Station, all in Glasgow; and the construction of a new station building for Queen Street Station, George Square, Glasgow, and for connected purposes.



3. The powers of the Order are conferred on Network Rail Infrastructure Limited (Company Number 02904587) whose registered office is at 1 Eversholt Street, London NW1 2DN ("Network Rail"). Article 32 of the Order applies section 195 of, and Schedule 15 to, the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 ("the Planning Act") relating to general vesting declarations. As a result Network Rail as an acquiring authorityunder the Planning Act (hereinafter referred to as "the Acquiring Authority") may acquire the Land.



4. A copy of the Order as made and of the Order plans has been deposited with Glasgow City Council at Mitchell Library, North Street, Glasgow G3 7DN and may be seen there without payment of fee between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on business days.



5. The Acquiring Authority may acquire the Land to which this notice relates by making a general vesting declaration under section 195 of the Planning Act. Such a declaration shall not be executed before the end of the period of two months beginning with the date of the first publication of this notice except with the consent of every occupier of land affected.



6. The effect of making such a declaration is to vest the Land in the Acquiring Authority at the end of the appropriate period and is more fully explained in Form 8 contained in the Compulsory Purchase of Land (Scotland) Regulations 2003. A copy of the said Regulations has also been deposited and may be seen as aforesaid.



7. Persons entitled to compensation in respect of any interest in the Land are invited to give information with respect to their name and address and the Land and their interest therein on the prescribed form a copy of which is included in the Notices which have been issued bythe Acquiring Authority. Further copies ofthe prescribed form will be sent by the Acquiring Authority on application to Network Rail, c/o Maclay Murray & Spens LLP, 1 George Square, Glasgow G2 1AL (reference Kenneth McLaren).
